I would like to start by congratulating our Debating Team who have won the Island Schools' Debating Competition! They were up against strong competition, but they showed their skills and really impressed the judges. We are very proud! Read all about this in the news story linked below.
Congratulations also go to our Fashion and Textiles students who held their runway show at Independent Arts yesterday evening. It was a fabulous event where they were able to showcase the high standard of work they have produced. We will have more on this next week.
I hope you are all enjoying the weather we are currently experiencing. However, can I remind you that beachwear is not acceptable when attending The Island VI Form.
If you are attending the Isle of Wight Festival this weekend, please ensure that you have lots of fun but in a safe manner:
1) Keep hydrated
2) Wear sunscreen
3) Please ensure you keep your personal belongings secure
4) Let your friends know where you are and who you are with if you separate from them
5) If you are 18, please drink responsibly and ensure you are in control of your actions at all times.
Please check your emails for details of the free travel for 16-17 year olds scheme being offered by Wightlink. Codes were sent to you on Monday 16 June for two free foot passenger crossings for every 16 and 17-year-old on the Isle of Wight in training or sixth-form education, helping young people take the next steps in their journey – whether for study, training, work or leisure. This brand-new initiative is part of Wightlink's commitment to making travel more accessible for the Island’s young people and supporting their ambitions beyond the Solent.
Next week we have some very exciting events. We have our first annual Awards Ceremony on Wednesday 25 June, followed by the Year 13 Prom on Thursday 26 June. Additionally, between Tuesday 24 - Saturday 28 June, you will be able to visit the Foundation Art and Design students' end of year show at Independent Arts. Please do pop in to see the impressive work they have produced. More details can be found below.
Well done to all of our Year 13 students for working so hard throughout the exam season. There is just one exam left to go tomorrow.
We look forward to welcoming students back on Monday morning.
Have a lovely weekend.
