Welcome back to another exciting year at the Island VI Form. It was really lovely to see Year 12 arrive on Wednesday and Year 13 on Thursday. Hopefully, all the students are excited to be back and are eager to start.
A change for this year is Tutor Time, which starts at 8.45 am and is compulsory for all students.
Year 13 Tutor Time is focusing on applying for UCAS, apprenticeships, jobs and gap years. It is very focused on ensuring students know what they are doing next year.
Year 12 Tutor Time is focusing on how to study for post 16 courses, managing study periods, and how to start building up experience to put on future applications.
Although students do not have lessons every period, lessons when they are not being taught are study periods where students should be completing work for their subjects or accessing the My Super Curricular website. Login at: https://mysupercurricular.co.uk/register
Using this website, students can complete virtual work-experience, online courses, podcasts etc. All of this is free to them.
Can we please remember that attendance is vital. We are looking for attendance at 95% and above. Driving lessons etc should be completed outside of lesson time. Where possible, please also make medical appointments outside of lesson time.
If a student is absent, they must email in to Student Services (attendance@theislandviform.org.uk) and also email their teacher for the work to catch up upon.
We are hopefully going to enter a team into Dance Live this year. If you would like to sign up, please complete this form: https://forms.gle/i2MJpvewMvYC8J6K9
Finally, if you require financial support, this can be found by picking up a bursary application at reception. Details of the 16-19 Bursary can be found here.
Have a lovely weekend.
