Weekly Updates from The Island VI Form

I would like to start off by congratulating Year 13 on completing their mock exams. They approached them with great maturity, and it was lovely to have the Mental Health Support Team (MHST) on site each morning to help with any exam anxiety.

On Monday, we had a visit from the HISP Multi Academy Trust to check upon our safeguarding and I was pleased to hear in the feedback that students talked about how safe they felt, that they felt staff made them feel welcomed and they knew who they could go to if they needed help. We were also commended for our work upon attendance, which, at the moment, now puts us just above National Average. I really appreciate the hard work of staff, the enthusiasm of students and support from home to make sure students are able to attend as many lessons as possible.

A few reminders:
The UCAS deadline is looming - 1 December! Please can Year 13 ensure they are completing their applications in readiness for this deadline.

On Wednesday 26 November we have our Christmas Quiz in aid of the Foodbank between 7-9pm. It would be lovely to see as many of you in attendance as possible. Last year's Christmas Quiz was a really fun event.

Finally, appointments are now open for Year 13 Parents' Evening on 10 December - please don't forget to make your appointments to see your child's teachers so that we can work in partnership over the important months ahead.

Have a lovely weekend.

Christmas Jumper Day - Thursday 11 December

We will be joining in with the Save The Children Christmas Jumper Day campaign on Thursday 11 December. Please wear something festive on this day and make your £1 donation on Arbor.

This is also our Christmas Dinner Day, so we will be full of festive spirit on this day! Make sure you book your Christmas Dinner with Ali in the canteen by Friday 5 December.

The Isle of Wight Council's Christmas Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme is now open for booking!

Booking Sytem

This year, activities include football, horse riding, fun at the farm, music, cheerleading, dance, circus skills, cooking, multi-sports and multi-activity holiday clubs. Every session includes a healthy, nutritious meal.

The HAF programme is funded by the Department for Education so that local authorities can offer healthy food and enriching activities in the school holidays to children who receive income-related free school meals. A small number of places are also available on HAF activities under a discretionary funding stream. Please see the following link for more details on eligibility:
