Annual Fashion Runway Show 2026 – Desire and Decay
On Monday 13th July, we held our Annual Fashion Runway Show. It was a spectacular celebration of creativity, innovation and technical excellence, bringing together the outstanding work of our 2026 cohort of Fashion and Textiles students under the compelling theme of Desire and Decay.
The theme challenged students to explore the contrast between beauty and deterioration, attraction and abandonment, luxury and loss. Through extensive research, experimentation and creative development, students translated these ideas into original garments. From dramatic silhouettes to intricate surface embellishment and sustainable textile techniques, each garment reflected a unique interpretation of the brief while showcasing the individuality of the designer behind it.
The runway came alive with a diverse range of garments that captivated the audience from the opening look to the final walk. Students displayed confidence and professionalism as they presented months of dedication, creativity and resilience.
This year's event was also an opportunity to support our local community. Through the generosity of our audience, we were delighted to raise £300 for Independent Arts, helping to support the valuable work they do to promote creativity, wellbeing and access to the arts within our local community. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed and helped make a positive difference beyond the runway.
The event was met with an overwhelmingly positive response from family, friends, staff and the wider community. The success of the show is a testament to the hard work, determination and collaborative spirit of everyone involved. Behind the scenes, students worked tirelessly to prepare garments, style models, coordinate the runway and ensure every detail contributed to a professional production. Their ability to overcome challenges and work as a team reflects the high standards expected within the creative industries.
The Annual Fashion Runway Show continues to be a highlight of the academic year, providing students with an invaluable opportunity to experience the excitement and expectations of showcasing work within a live fashion environment. It celebrates not only the finished collections but also the journey of research, experimentation, problem-solving and creative growth that has taken place throughout the year.
Congratulations to all of our 2026 Fashion and Textiles students for producing an inspiring and memorable evening. Desire and Decay demonstrated the exceptional talent within our department and provided a fitting celebration of the next generation of creative designers. We would also like to thank our audience, staff, volunteers and supporters for making the evening such a success, both in celebrating our students' achievements and in helping us raise funds to support the important work of Independent Arts.
