Welcome back to a new academic year! We hope that you have had a lovely summer break and are ready for the studies ahead. It has been lovely to see so many new Year 12 students arrive to start their studies with us, and we are still enrolling new students. Year 13 have come back with a focus on next steps as to where they are headed at the end of the year.
This year we have launched the Student Arbor app. All students have had an invite emailed to them to download the app. This app will allow students to see their timetables electronically.
If you think you are entitled to bursary support can you please fill in an application via our website.
Changes to free school meals have taken place, so if you have previously been in receipt of free school meals but you were not at Medina College you will have to reapply this year via the council website – please choose Medina from the drop-down list. Please let reception know if you are successful, so they can be added to the list straightaway in the café.
We were very proud of the improvement in attendance last year, being in line with the national average. This year we would like to see attendance above the national average. Good attendance is defined as attendance above 95%. We, of course, understand that sometimes illnesses happen. But can we try and avoid making medical appointments, driving lessons, work or other such appointments during lesson time. If you do need to be absent can you please email in to student services on attendance@theislandviform.org.uk and let us know.
Finally, if you have any worries or concerns, please let us know and we try to resolve these as soon as possible. Have a lovely weekend.
