Weekly Updates from The Island VI Form

I want to say congratulations to Year 13 on completing their last set of mock exams. Your conduct, as always, was impressive, and hopefully you will find the feedback from the exams useful. We now have three weeks left before the end of this half-term, and it is important to make sure students are making the most of every lesson.

This week we had some very impressive news, that our Young Enterprise team have won the local final and can now progress to the regional finals. Congratulations to all of them and a special thank you to Mrs Garey and Mr Kidd for supporting them so well.

Thanks to Mrs Tennant for hosting the Y13 Drama showcase on Wednesday evening, preparing the students for their upcoming drama exam.

We are still in the middle of interviewing students for next September. If you know any Year 11 who would like to apply, can you please remind them that the deadline is the 31st March 2026.

Finally, can I please remind you we have our Easter Quiz on the evening of Wednesday 18th March, if you are able to attend, it would be much appreciated.

Trinity College, Cambridge Outreach for Year 12

A small group of year 12s attended Christ The King on Monday 3rd March, for an information session about Trinity College, Cambridge.

The session focussed on the application process, pre-testing information and the interview stage of the application.

Students also gained a good insight into the financial aspects of applying and the bursary amounts available to them.

Students were made aware of the importance of super-curricular to enhance their application.

Year 13 Chemists

Our Year 13 Chemists make simple electrochemical cells (batteries) as part of their practical certificate. The students compared the voltage of different concentrations of solutions to evaluate the effectiveness of the electrochemical cell.
