Weekly Updates from The Island VI Form

I hope everyone had a lovely bank holiday weekend. Next week sees the official start of the majority of A Level exams. We wish Year 13 luck as they enter this exam period. Please remember study leave for Year 13's does not start until Monday 1st June.

This week has seen us launch a survey for parents and carers. Could you please take the opportunity to complete this, the link to the survey is here.

If your child is experiencing exam stress, please make sure to let them know that they can access Student Services at any point. They will either be able to sign post to the appropriate services or provide support themselves. MHST trained councillors will be in school frequently during the exam period to provide support for students prior to them entering into their exams.

For Year 12 the UCAS application process is about to go live with students being able to look at researching courses at university and apprenticeships. All students in the next half-term will have sessions teaching them how to set up a login and how to navigate the site.

Finally, if students have not yet signed up for the Year 13 Prom please ensure you do this asap.

Have a great weekend

Phil Pearce-Jones - Head of School

Year 12 Drama

The spotlight has been shining on the year 12 Drama students over the past two weeks - literally! After months of hard work and rehearsal, they performed their reimagined extract from Art by Yasmina Reza in the style of Stephan Berkoff, a practitioner who truly challenges an actor's vocal and physical skills. All students performed to a small audience of family and friends, delivering their best performance and demonstrating a high level of maturity and professionalism. A week later they produced the same high standard of work ready for their piece to be marked and sent to the exam board. Both Mrs Rogers and myself feel very proud to see what you have achieved this year.

This week I received an email from a parent and would like to share the following: "I just wanted to say how amazing I thought all the performances were last week. I was absolutely raving about it afterwards to friends and family. I think I was expecting high school play levels but it blew me away."

Well done year 12 Drama students!
