Weekly Updates from The Island VI Form

We are fast approaching the end of Year 13 exams and I must congratulate our students on the mature approach they have taken to completing their exams. With the end of Year 13 final exams in sight it will be soon time for Year 12 to complete their end of Year Mocks. Please remember these exams are compulsory and help inform whether a student is ready to progress onto Year 13.

Please remember next week we are closed on Festival Friday (Friday 19th June) and Festival Monday (Monday 22nd June). Work will be set on Google Classroom for students to complete.

Invites for our Award Evening have now gone out, so please keep an eye on the post to see if an invitation lands at your door. An invitation will indicate that a student has been awarded a prize but not what for. This they will find out on the night.

Year 12 University Application Process Talk from University of Brighton

On Tuesday 9th June, Victoria Patel from the University of Brighton came to speak to our Year 12 students about the university application process. Ninety students heard Victoria speak about how they should go about researching courses, universities and the application process for university entry next year.

Victoria also spoke thoroughly about personal statement writing and how this can be an asset when writing job applications as well. The students were also encouraged to sign up for the upcoming Oxford Brookes and Chichester visits as part of their preparation for the post-18 world.
