The Island VI Form mock trial team thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the inter-school Mock Trial competition last weekend, coming second overall. The 2023 winners worked hard and prepared well, 'winning' both their Defence and Prosecution cases in front of juries of their peers. The competition is organised by a team of retired and working judges, magistrates, police, teachers and students, who worked tirelessly to ensure that the event took place in spite of the storm. 

Olivia Metcalf, defence barrister for the Island VI Form team, said " it was an amazing experience. All the students from schools across the Island were so confident and professional. We were really proud of our whole team's performance. Congratulations to Ryde School." 

Our VI Form team was supported by teachers Mr Cody and Miss Lowthion in the weeks leading up to the event. Mr Cody said "The students gave a really polished and prepared performance. We really appreciate being able to take the opportunity for our young people to experience working in the legal system, and thank the organisers for giving up their time yet again."
