Visit from Baroness Natalie Bennett

Baroness Natalie Bennett visited students at The Island VI Form to talk about the work of the House of Lords, and their role in it, as part of the popular ‘Learn with the Lords’ programme.

During the visit on Friday 2 May, Baroness Bennett spoke to students on a range of topics including their journey into politics and the role the House of Lords has in the passing of laws, holding the government to account and making recommendations to the government on a range of topics through its committee work. She then answered questions from students on a range of current topics.

It was fantastic for the students to hear first-hand how the House of Lords operates and found it really interesting to hear how Baroness Bennett's life and career developed; from growing up in Australia to her work as a journalist and being Leader of the Green Party between 2012–2016.

Thank you to Baroness Bennett for giving up her time to visit our students and supporting our ongoing enrichment programme.
