Throughout this week, our Year 13 Chemists have been making aspirin. The processes involved were: synthesising, purifying by recrystallisation and testing for purity by thin layer chromatography and melting point. This was an enjoyable practical that uses all the practical skills and theoretical knowledge that the students have built up during the A-level course.
