On Tuesday, 21st July, students from the Island VI Form embarked on an insightful and memorable educational trip to the heart of British democracy at the Palace of Westminster.

Travelling from the Isle of Wight to the mainland, the group experienced a packed itinerary designed to bring their political and historical studies to life. During the exclusive tour, students explored the iconic House of Commons and the House of Lords, gaining a firsthand appreciation of where national legislation is debated and shaped.

The cohort walked through the historic Central Lobby—the bustling meeting point between the two Houses—and marvelled at the soaring medieval architecture of Westminster Hall, absorbing centuries of British history within the oldest part of the parliamentary estate.

Following an enriching morning immersed in politics, the group enjoyed a scenic stroll across Whitehall to Trafalgar Square, where they relaxed and had lunch in the midday sun before heading back. The trip offered an invaluable, hands-on perspective on governance, leaving everyone inspired as they wrapped up another successful term.
