A Level Results 2026

The Island VI Form is delighted to congratulate its 2026 leavers on an excellent set of A Level results. The results reflect the hard work, commitment and determination of students and staff, alongside the continued encouragement and support of parents and families. We are incredibly proud of all our students and their achievements.

This year has seen improvement across both A Level and Applied subjects, with a significant increase in the number of students achieving an average grade of A. We are particularly pleased that 84% of students who applied to university have secured a place, a figure above the national average. Students who have chosen alternative pathways, including higher-level apprenticeships, job-specific training and employment, have also enjoyed success in securing their chosen next steps.

We are delighted to share that among this year’s outstanding achievements, one of our students, Robert Cragg, has secured a highly sought-after place at the University of Oxford to study Medicine. This is a particularly remarkable accomplishment and is a reflection of Robert’s exceptional academic achievement, dedication and determination. We are incredibly proud to see him take this exciting next step.

The achievements of this year’s cohort are particularly significant, having experienced disruption to their secondary education as a result of the Covid pandemic. Students have demonstrated resilience, perseverance and commitment throughout their time with us at The Island VI Form and their strong results are a testament to their determination and the support of the staff who have worked alongside them over the past two years.

Jess Paul, Executive Headteacher for Medina College and The Island VI Form, said: “Today’s results are a wonderful reflection of the hard work of our students and staff, alongside the support of families. We are delighted to see so many young people progressing to exciting opportunities and wish them every success as they begin the next chapter of their journey.”

Phil Pearce-Jones, Head of School at The Island VI Form, said: “Today is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our students and the journey they have taken to reach this point. We are particularly pleased to see improvement across our A Level and Applied subjects, alongside a significant increase in students achieving an average grade of A. With 84% of those who applied securing a university place, above the national average, there is much to celebrate.

The success of our student who has secured a place at Oxford to study Medicine is a particularly proud moment for the whole VI Form and is a truly remarkable achievement. It reflects the ambition, dedication and hard work that we seek to nurture in all our students.

However, results are only one part of a student’s time here at The Island VI Form. We are proud of the well-rounded young people they have become through their involvement in volunteering, community activities and enrichment opportunities, as well as developing the skills and confidence they need for life beyond sixth form. We wish every one of our students the very best as they embark on their next chapter.”

The Island VI Form continues to provide a supportive environment dedicated exclusively to Post-16 teaching and learning, helping students to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence they need for their next steps. Whether progressing to university, an apprenticeship, further training or employment, students are encouraged to flourish as individuals and prepare for life beyond sixth form.
