Head of School’s Blog – 12 July 2024
Dear Students, Parents and Carers
Year 12 – Congratulations on finishing your end of year exams and completing work experience, if you were lucky enough to be out building your Career Capital.
UCAS research and applications should be well under way now. Student Services and your teachers are available to help and support if you are struggling to narrow down your choices. If your personal statement is looking a little light, you still have plenty of time to gain experience – ‘working towards completing’ is a great expression to use, rather than just ‘started’.
Before the end of term, we will be issuing next year’s timetables. We will be delivering them in class or they will be available to collect from Student Services. You will notice that there is one slight change: week A and B are no longer identical. Year 13 students will not have a period 1 lesson scheduled in week B, this is because we have changed our delivery model to 9 periods a fortnight rather than 10. This brings us inline with other schools and colleges, but still delivers over the recommended guided learner hours. It will also give us a chance to offer enrichment opportunities during this time to Year 12 & 13 students every other week.
We have just two weeks to go and attendance to every lesson is essential. Teaching finishes on Friday 26 July.
Hopefully the summer weather will start soon and we can all enjoy a sunny break.
