Head of School’s Blog – 5 July 2024
Dear Students, Parents & Carers
As Head of School, it was a pleasure to welcome nearly 500 new and prospective students to The Island VI Form this week.
If any of our future Year 12 students missed the pre-enrolment event on Tuesday, they will be receiving the information shared on the day, via post. This should include confirmation of option choices, the blocking of subjects, if anyone has any last minute changes and, most importantly, your enrolment interview slot for September (remember to bring your exam results!).
Thank you to all Year 10 students from Carisbrooke and Medina Colleges, who all visited the campus on Wednesday and Thursday this week. Your behaviour whilst here and attitude to this new experience was excellent. Hopefully you enjoyed the day and will be choosing to join us in the future as you decide where the next stage of your education will continue.
The Year 12 Trial Exams continue next week and I’m sure all of the months of revision will pay off. The exams are followed by a three day opportunity to complete work experience. If you haven’t signed up to a work experience placement, you need to be in school as lessons will run as normal. Full details are available on the Student Services Hub.
School finishes at 3.15 pm on Friday 26 July. The last two weeks after exams are vital for teaching and all students need to be in as we start teaching Year 13 content straight away. This begins to get you ready for the real exams next summer.
Enjoy a hopefully dry, but windy weekend.
Mr Mumford
