Head of School’s Blog – 28 June 2024
Dear Students, Parents & Carers
The Year 12 Trial exams start next week and I’m sure all of the months of revision will pay off. The exams are followed by a three day opportunity to complete work experience. If you haven’t signed up to a work experience placement, you need to be in school as lessons will run as normal. Full details are available on the Student Services Hub.
School finishes at 3.15pm on Friday 26 July. The last two weeks after exams are vital for teaching and all students need to be in as we start teaching Year 13 content straight away. This starts to get you ready for the real exams next summer.
Last week we had the Foundation Art students’ work on display at Independent Arts in Newport. This week was the turn of the Fashion students who hosted a runway show for their final project. Both events were amazing and reminded us why we got into teaching. Congratulations to all students and thank you to all staff for their support. You can still view the Fashion students’ final pieces at Independent Arts until 9 July.
Our penultimate event for Year 13 leavers this year was the Prom, hosted at The Quay Arts Centre. As always, it was an amazing evening. Thank you to Student Voice for organising and running the event.
The final event for Year 13 is their Results Day on Thursday 15 August. Please see the website for full details on the collection of results.
Enjoy a slightly cooler, but sunny weekend.
