Head of School's Blog - 13 September 2024

Dear Students, Parents & Carers

It was great to see so many students back this week and welcome Year 12 to their first full week of A Level/Level 3 BTEC lessons.

I wanted to remind you about the expectations set out in the assemblies this week: hard work pays off. You need to use your study periods to support the work done in lessons. We expect you to be doing four hours of additional work per subject, on site, in the study rooms provided.

You need to attend every day. If you are absent, you need to make contact with us and let us know. The same expectations apply to those as if you are going to be absent from work.

Unauthorised absence is unacceptable at VI Form.

To report an absence, please:

Call: 01983 522886, opt 1 for Student Services, or
Email:  attendance@theislandviform.org.uk.

Every student needs to be working on their career capital and building up leadership, teamwork, resilience, communication and problem solving skills. The VI Form Freshers Fayre on the 26 September will be advertising events that will help you to develop these skills.

The school photographs for Year 12 will be taken on Monday 16 and on Tuesday 17 we will hold the first Oxbridge/Medicine group meeting in B3 at break time.

You will have a great time at VI Form and make good academic progress if you attend every day, use your study periods and build career capital.

Have a lovely weekend with, hopefully, less rain than last weekend!
