Student Voice

Have you got ideas about how The Island VI Form could be improved? Is there something that would make student life better? Student Voice is the place to bring these ideas!

We are a group of students who come together to create new ideas and raise concerns about the school. We represent all VI Form students, and our ideas can lead to big changes. We work with teachers and staff to build a powerful team who can collaborate to make the VI Form a better place.

The discussions take place every Monday breaktime in B2, and we develop many life skills such as organisation, communication, leadership and problem-solving, all of which are vital skills for UCAS applications, personal statements and personal development.

We have worked together on a range of events:

  • Organising the year 13 proms
  • Public speaking at open evenings
  • Running school charity raffles and events
  • Visiting other colleges to view other student leadership
  • Car washes and other fundraising events
  • Organising the Freshers Event
  • Welcoming new students
  • Making the school festive at Christmas

We have also created many developments at The Island VI Form:

  • A suggestion box for regular student feedback
  • Purchasing table-football tables from fundraising
  • Discussions leading to the creation of the Head Student position
  • Creating a school trophy cabinet to showcase achievements
  • Organising and creating school clubs such as Film Club
  • Making the school more inclusive
